Saturday, July 6, 6:30-9:30. Dance at Heather Gardens. Terry Norona will be performing. This dance is for residents and non-residents. They will have a special table for singles. The cost is $5.00 for residents if they prepay and $7.00 for residents and guests the day of the dance. Some SNC members may be there. The attire is classy casual. There will be dance hosts, mixer dances and light refreshments. Rosalie is not going this month. The next dance will be Saturday, August 3.

Wednesday, July 10, 6:30pm. Free Concert – Forever Fab. This is a Beatles Tribute Band. The Streets of Southglenn mall is on the southwest corner of University Blvd. and Arapahoe Rd. in Centennial. It is on the street south of Whole Foods, a block or so west. Bring a chair, umbrella (sun or rain protection), food and drink if you wish. To get a good place to sit, we will plan to be there around 6:00 p.m. Give Dee a call if you plan to attend.

Saturday, July 13, 8:00am. Walk with a Doc. This group will be meeting at Crestmoor Park which is off of Locust and Cedar near Alameda and Monaco. They meet near the Tennis Courts. Sometimes we have a few SNC members attending. This month’s health topic is Improving Your Balance. Every month during these walks we walk, talk, and exercise our way to a healthier you! Tuesday, July 16, 7-8:30pm. Coloroddities with Tom Noel. Bemis Library. Well-known Colorado historian Tom Noel will give a photo presentation on strange things about our state. Featured in the talk will be entertaining stories on bizarre people throughout the history of Colorado, weird vehicles, exotic animals and hungry cannibals. Copies of Noel’s recent books will be available for purchase and signing at the program.
Monday, July 22, 2-3pm. Those Amazing Tabors. Bemis Library. Hear the story of Colorado’s millionaire silver family, the Tabors. Speaker Eldon Halingstad will start with tales of Horace Tabor as a young man meeting Augusta in Maine and homesteading in Kansas. The story continues with the Tabors’ trip to Colorado and their quest for fame and fortune. Their lives take a strange and intriguing twist when Baby Doe enters the picture and becomes involved with Horace. Halingstad has been a professional speaker and storyteller for over thirty years. He is internationally known for his educational programs.

Tuesday, July 23, 7-8:30pm. Crimes Against Women in Pakistan. Bemis Library. Author Jacqueline St. Joan will speak about the realities of the culturally and socially accepted honor crimes against women in Pakistan. St. Joan visited Pakistan to research this topic. While there, she met with human-rights activists, visited women’s shelters and lived with Pakistani families. As a result of her research, she published a novel, My Sisters Made of Light, which focuses on three women who suffer the type of violence directed against real Pakistani women who are viewed as bringing shame on their families. Since the publication of her novel two years ago, St. Joan has raised $19,000 to build a shelter in Pakistan for abused women with children. Copies of her novel will be available for signing and purchase.

Wednesday, July 24, 6:30pm. Free Concert – Juke Box Boys. This group specializes in ’50’s music. Saturday, July 27. Senior Law Day. Senior Law Day will take place on July 27 at the Denver Mart. It starts early in the morning. They ask for a $10.00 contribution to help pay for books and refreshments. You will need to pre-register ASAP. To register you can visit them on line at www.seniorlawday.org or call 303-860-0608. This annual educational seminar will provide attendees with important and useful information on many issues facing our growing senior citizen population. Every participant will receive a free copy of the 2013 Edition Senior Law Handbook. Rosalie is planning to attend and you can let her know if you will be there.

Sunday, July 28, 5:00pm SNC Meeting, Miniature Golf and Dinner Out. For our July 28 meeting we will be playing Miniature Golf at Kennedy Golf Course, which is located at 10500 E. Hampden Avenue, Aurora, CO 80014. Their phone number is 720-865-0720. We will form teams of four and start playing around 5:15 PM. The cost to play is $5.00 for a group rate for seniors. They have three miniature golf courses and we can decide what course we would like to play on or play on all of them if time permits. After mini golf around 6:30 PM we will probably head over to Citron Bistro located at 3535 S. Yosemite Street in Denver. They have a reasonable Happy Hour special menu from $4.00-$7.50 with the purchase of a beverage. If you have a recommendation on another restaurant, please let Rosalie know. Please call Phyllis or Rosalie by Saturday, July 27 and let either one of them know if you are playing mini golf with us on Sunday, July 28 as we want to get an idea of how many will be there. If you want to just go to dinner let us know that too. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and be a little cooler. Please remember to invite other single people you know to this meeting and our activities, as we always like to increase the size of our club. Guests can come to a few events and then hopefully they will join our club. Hosts of events are encouraged to speak to guests that come on a regular basis to join our club as our dues are very reasonable (only $25.00 a year).

Friday, Dance at Heather Gardens. Every Friday from 5:30-8:30PM in Blossoms. There is an $8.50 buffet available on Fridays earlier.
