Saturday, Aug 3, 6:30. Dance at Heather Gardens. Perfect Harmony 4 will be performing. This dance is for residents and non-residents. They will have a special table for singles. The cost is $5.00 for residents if they prepay and $7.00 for residents and guests the day of the dance. Some SNC members may be there.The attire is classy casual. There will be dance hosts, mixer dances and light refreshments. Rosalie is not going this month. The next dance will be Saturday, September 7.

Wednesday, Aug 7, 6:30. Free “The Long Run” Concert at Streets of SouthGlenn. This is an Eagles tribute band. The Streets of Southglenn mall is on the southwest corner of University Blvd. and Arapahoe Rd. in Centennial. It is on the street south of Whole Foods, a block or so west. Bring a chair, umbrella (sun or rain protection), food and drink if you wish. To get a good place to sit, we will plan to be there around 6:00 p.m. Give Dee a call if you plan to attend.

Thursday, Aug 8, 6:30, Bemis Library, An Evening of Dance from India. Experience the energetic and colorful dances of India performed by the Mudra Dance Studio on the front lawn stage at the library,. The dances will show the diversity of India’s culture, ranging from folk and classical dance to more contemporary Bollywood-inspired dances. Hot dogs, brats, burgers and beverages will be available for purchase beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Friday, Aug 9, Free Denver Municipal Band Concert and Fireworks. Sterne Park — 5900 S. Spotswood, Littleton. Bring your blanket,lawn chair, umbrella, food, drink, and any thing else you might need for an evening under the stars (hopefully, not under the rain.) This is a Western Welcome Week Program. The Denver Municipal Band will perform from 7:45 – 9pm. Fireworks begin approximately at 9pm. Last year, it was very crowded which is why we are saying to meet at 7 p.m. The fireworks were out-standing. Note: W. Shepperd Ave. will be closed from S. Bemis St., to S. Spotswood St. and S. Spotswood St. will be closed from W. Shepperd Ave. to W. Lake Ave. Call Rosalie or Dee if you plan to attend. We may have to communicate via cell phones once we are there because it is a large area.

Saturday, August 10, 8:00 AM at Bible Park. Walk with a Doc. This group will be meeting at Bible Park which is off of Yale between Monaco and Quebec in Denver. They meet near the Baseball Diamond. Sometimes we have a few SNC members attending. This month’s health topic is Improving Pulmonary Hypertension. Every month during these walks we walk, talk, and exercise our way to a healthier you! – Learn with a high yield health discussion given by a local expert healthcare provider – Exercise with new friends, doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals – Eat healthy with free refreshments, water, and a healthy breakfast. Thursday, Aug 15, 6:30. Bemis Library Big Band Musical Tour of Route 66. Enjoy a Big Band concert, on the front lawn of the library! The Joe Peterson 10-piece Dance Orchestra and the Andrews Singers will treat you to a rousing musical tour of Route 66. Songs will include “This Land is Your Land,” “Born to be Wild,” “Blue Moon,” “Boogie Woogie,” “Route 66,” and many others. Based in Littleton, the Joe Peterson Dance Orchestra has performed over 21 years throughout the Denver metro area. Hot dogs, brats, burgers and beverages will be available for
purchase beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Saturday, Aug 17, 5:30pm SNC Picnic. Tonight’s meeting will be our annual SNC Picnic. We decided to make it easier for members this year and not make it a pot luck and charge all members $5.00. Your SNC Board will purchase the food. Cherri Cassio was able to reserve her Club-house at Woodside Village Condos for our picnic.  If you would like to invite any guests there will be an $8.00 fee for non-members/guests. If they would like to join the SNC we will apply $3.00 towards the $25.00 annual membership. Tonight will also be our monthly game night and we will play games, if time permits, so bring your favorite games along. If members would like to take a walk after dinner, we can do that also. The exact menu for the picnic has not been decided yet but may include Pulled Chicken sandwiches, potato salad, cold slaw, fruit, desserts and drinks. We will have soda pop and water and maybe some other drinks but if you have a favorite you may want to bring it along. Please RSVP to Rosalie or Phyllis by Thursday, August 15 as we need to shop for food and want to make sure we have enough. If you know you will definitely not be coming to the picnic, please call and let us know to save us a phone call to you. Tuesday, Aug 27 6:00. Free Rose Garden Concert at Gardens on Havana. In and around the rose garden plaza at The Gardens on Havana (Former Buckingham Square Mall Site). The rose garden plaza is located along the back row of stores south of Dick’s Sporting Goods. The Aurora Symphony Orchestra’s brass quintet wraps up our 2013 summer concert series. The first 400 people in attendance will receive a free ice cream sundae! Bring a lawn chair and join at 6 p.m.

Additional Fun Things to do. The 2013 Aurora’s Banks in Harmony Concert Series is almost over and the last one will be on Thursday, August 8 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Hazel Miller will be performing. Some of your fellow SNC members (Rosalie, Phyllis, Jennifer, Gina and Cherri, Kathy and Karen) are season ticket holders to either the Curious Theatre or the Aurora Fox or both. Some of us already renewed our subscriptions for the 2013-2014 Season and if you would like to join us give Rosalie a call and she can give you details. The Denver County Fair will be August 9, 10 and 11 at the National Western. Rosalie is hoping to go on Saturday, August 10. She has gone the past two year’s and enjoyed it. This year there is a $5.00 admission charge and it is good all three days and parking is only $5.00. DeLaney Farm Historic Site will be open for free tours. Tour the historic buildings of DeLaney Farm and learn about the people who lived there 100 years ago from 1:00-4:00 PM on August 10. This site is located at 170 S.
