Saturday, February 1, 6:30pm-9:30pm. Dance at Heather Gardens. Tom & Shirley Yook will be performing. This dance is for residents and non-residents. They will have a special table for singles. The cost is $5.00 for H.G. residents if they prepay and $7.00 for residents and guests the day of the dance. Some SNC members may be there.The attire is classy casual. There will be dance hosts, mixer dances and light refreshments. The next dance will be Saturday, March 1, with Terry Norona performing. Rosalie is going so if you are interested in going give her a call.

Sunday, February 2, 11:30am. Brunch at Rendezvous at Heather Gardens. This is the new restaurant replacing Blossoms that has moved to Windsor Gardens. Join Rosalie, Gina, Geri and others from SNC. Invite friends if you like. This is their first breakfast brunch and some of us wanted to see what it was like. The price is $8.95 and the items on the buffet sounded good. If you would like to join us, call Rosalie or Gina.

Saturday, February 8, 8am. Walk with a Doc at Crestmoor Park. This park is north of Alameda off of S. Locust and Cedar. They meet near the tennis courts. Rosalie plans to be there. Sometimes we have a few SNC members attending. This month’s health topic is Protecting Your Skin. Wednesday, February 12, 7-8:30pm. America’s Vanishing Wild Horses. Bemis Library. See stunning images and hear stories of horses in the wild, with author and photographer Carol Walker. Seven years ago, Walker began photographing wild horses. As she followed several herds in Wyoming, Colorado and Montana, she became aware of how precarious their situation on public lands has become. Since then, she has dedicated herself to educating people with her photographs and stories about the wild horses. Walker’s award-winning book Wild Hoofbeats: America’s Vanishing Wild Horses will be available for purchase.

Saturday, February 15, 2-3pm. Free Concert at Bemis Library. Love Potion #9—Classic Love Songs with a Twist will feature pianist Nick Busheff and vocalist Nancy Stohlman performing favorite torch songs of the past along with original music from their band and theatrical productions.

Saturday, February 22 5:30pm. SNC Meeting at Apple Creek Restaurant. For our second meeting of the year we will be going back to Apple Creek Restaurant and Grill which is located at 10600 E. Iliff Avenue. They have a meet-ing room that we will use. Their menu, which is reasonably priced, has lots of choices and includes sandwiches, burgers, specialty pastas and Southwest-ern favorites, prime rib, steaks, chicken, pot roast, appetizers, soups, salads, desserts, etc. Hopefully everyone will pur-chase something for dinner, as they are not charging us to use their meeting room. There will be no additional fees for members or non-members tonight. Bob Hadfield will present a fun program you won’t want to miss. In this program Bob will sing some light-hearted songs by Ray Stevens and Johnnie Cash, and accompany himself on his Yamaha piano. He will also tell some interesting and humorous stories. It should be great fun! PLEASE NOTE THIS MEETING IS ON SATURDAY AND NOT SUN-DAY this month.  Please remember to invite other single people you know to this event and our meetings and ac-tivities, as we always like to in-crease the size of our club. Guests can come to a few events and then hopefully they will join our club. Hosts of events are encouraged to speak to guests that come on a regular basis to join our club as our dues are very reasonable (only $25.00 a year).

Monday, February 24, 2-3pm. Street Cars of Denver at Bemis Library. Join local author and historian Kevin Pharris for an examination of the predecessor of today’s Light Rail system, When it was removed in 1950, Denver had one of the largest streetcar systems in the nation. With pictures and personal accounts from folks who remember riding the rails, Pharris will examine how the system began and grew, how it affected the city’s growth, why it was removed and how its return is changing our lives. Pharris’ book, Riding Denver’s Rails, will be on sale at the event.
